Science Double - Core and Additional GCSEs

Course Content

Students study a wide breadth of science to include aspects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry. We follow the OCR 21st Century syllabus and over two years will complete the GCSE Science A and GCSE Additional Science.

Assessment Procedure

GCSE Science A

Students complete three modules in each science subject. 75% Exam - 3 x 1 hour papers; 25% Controlled Assessment - Includes a Case Study and Data Analysis.

GCSE Additional Science A

Students complete three modules in each science subject. 75% Exam - 3 x 1 hour papers; 25% Controlled Assessment - Includes a Practical Investigation set by OCR.

Opportunities at CEC and Beyond

  • Leadership opportunities to mentor and/or support younger students.
  • Grades of BB in Core and Additional Science can allow you access to most A Levels
  • This course can lead to university courses such as Medicine, Sciences, Archaeology, Pharmacology etc.
  • Jobs include Research Scientists, Doctor, Nursing, Ecologist, or work in The Forces.
  • Practical and literacy skills development.
